From 26th to 28th October 2016 the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava, hosted Re-Industrialisation of the EU 2016, one of the largest events during the Slovak presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2016. This prestigious three-day event aimed to emphasize and discuss the role of science, research and innovation in sustainable development of the European economy and the re-industrialisation of Europe.
It focused on the impact of research and innovation on the support and growth of production in the more “traditional” manufacturing sectors. The conference included a matchmaking event, exhibition, poster sessions, workshops and competitions.
One of the most important conference outcomes will be a final strategy document – the “Bratislava Agenda”. The document, a joint initiative of the Dutch and Slovak Presidencies, will be finalised with active participation of the European and international community of researchers, innovators and business sector representatives at the event. A ceremonial handover of the Bratislava Agenda will take place at the end of the conference to representatives of Malta as a basis for policy-making during the Maltese EU Presidency.
Magnetar attended all three days of the event:
- Attending sessions of the Conference in subjects like smart energy for energy union, intelligent buildings and smart cities, continuous education and training of existing workforce, advanced learning technologies.
- Visiting the Exhibition which presented excellent Slovak and international research institutions, as well as successful research and innovation projects supported from European programmes.
- Participating in the Matchmaking session consisting of customised bilateral meetings in order to identify future collaboration opportunities in the form of new partnerships and new projects.
The experience was overall amazing and we would like to thank the organisers for managing successfully this multifaceted event.
